Radon Testing
Protect Your Health with Professional Radon Testing
Radon is a colorless, odorless, radioactive gas that can seep into homes from the ground—and it’s the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. According to the EPA, homes in Massachusetts, including Marblehead and the Greater Boston area, are considered at risk.
At Omega Home Inspections, we provide accurate, certified radon testing to detect harmful gas levels and help protect your family’s health.
What Is Radon and Why Should You Test for It?
Radon is a naturally occurring gas produced by the breakdown of uranium in soil and rock. It enters buildings through:
- Cracks in floors or walls
- Gaps around service pipes
- Sump pump openings
- Basement or crawlspace foundations
Testing is the only way to know if radon is present in your home.
How Our Radon Testing Works
Our process uses continuous radon monitors (CRMs) to collect accurate data over a 48-hour period:
- We place a digital radon monitor in your home’s lowest livable space.
- The monitor collects hourly readings of radon concentration (measured in picocuries per liter, or pCi/L).
- After 48 hours, we retrieve the monitor and generate a detailed report.
- Results are provided same day after test completion
When to Schedule Radon Testing
- Before buying or selling a home
- After major renovations
- Annually, especially in high-risk zones say EPA recommends every 2 years
We also offer standalone radon testing as part of our inspection services or as an individual service.
